Saul Leiter whose father was a strict Jewish clergyman was born in 1923 in Pittsburgh of U.S.A..As disobey his father’s wish, he moved to NYC for being a painter. He took many self-portrait photographies during 1940s - 1970s. In 1950s, his photography career officially began as a fashion photographer in NYC. However he left from commercial photograph world in 1980s. In 2006, he got spotlight again when a German publisher released Saul Leiter’s photography book “Early Color” and he came to be called "a pioneer of colo r photography". Since his death in 2014, Saul Leiter Foundation has dedicated to preserving and maintaining an archive of tremendous amount of his works left.
